Last Friday evening, the URA enforcement team staged at the checkpoint in Jinja on all saloon cars. The operation is one of the many efforts by URA to fight smuggling of all sorts and create a level trading ground for all legitimate traders.
According to Vincent Kiberu, a customs officers in Jinja, the operation went on for three days and yielded two interceptions.
On Friday, a corona UAH 359J was impounded loaded with basmati rice of 1,075kgs.
On Saturday another saloon car (UAU199Z) was intercepted with sports jerseys.
Both vehicles are currently at Jinja Enforcement station pending offence management.
