URA in talks with France to sign bilateral taxation agreement

By Irene Kabakama

France has initiated talks with URA to sign a bilateral taxation agreement that will improve trade between the two countries.

This was one of the focus areas during a meeting between URA’s Commissioner General John Musinguzi and Gregory Sidrac, the Head of the Economic Department at the Embassy of France in Uganda.

“We realized that we need to have more dialogue and also work on the bilateral taxation agreement so as to explore and extend this working relationship,” said Sidrac.

Musinguzi welcomed the proposition and praised the positive economic ties between the two nations, noting the importance of the contribution made by French businesses.

He called for more engagements between URA and the French investors to ensure they are well supported in the area of taxation.

Trade between Uganda and France has been growing over the years with the former hosting 40 French companies including energy giant TOTAL.
