The East African Revenue Authorities Technical Committee on Integrity (EARATCI) members have applauded the URA approach to integrity assessment that is based on the WCO Revised Arusha Declaration on developing integrity and the URA Comprehensive Integrity Strategy. As a result, the meeting nominated URA to take the lead in developing the regional integrity assessment and strategy development initiatives.
This task was developed during the 15th meeting of the technical committee held in Juba South Sudan from 26th to 28th October 2022. The Commissioner General of South Sudan National Revenue Authority (NRA), Mr. Patrick Mugoya also urged members to fight against the complacency that has allowed corruption to bedevil many African countries and institutions.
EARATCI is a sub-committee of the East African Revenue Authorities Commissioner Generals Summit and brings together the internal affairs functions of the six East African Revenue Authorities, namely: Kenya Revenue Authority, Office Burundian des Recettes, National Revenue Authority, Rwanda Revenue Authority, Tanzania Revenue Authority and Uganda Revenue Authority.
James Abola, the Assistant Commissioner Staff Compliance, headed the URA delegation that comprised of James Asiimwe Kamara and Ms Charlene Rwemereza, both managers in the same division.
