Jinja enforcement team crack down on illicit goods

By Desmond Lumago

In the night of Tuesday under Jinja’s starry sky, a team of enforcement agents sprang into action. Their mission was to intercept a truck, KCQ675Y suspected of carrying smuggled goods. With speed, they tracked the vehicle, ensuring none of its illicit cargo was offloaded before reaching a secure location.
The team’s coordinated plan unfolded seamlessly and they seized the truck just in time. Its contents were safely transported to the URA office in Jinja for further investigation. Upon verification, the seized goods revealed an assortment of contraband below; 2 bales of screen-printed spun Rayon, 6 rolls of curtain material, 42 cartons of light meat Tuna, 9 cartons s of white oats, 11cartons of home fruit cordial.
But that wasn’t the only victory for the Jinja team that night. Acting on intelligence, they raided another consolidation point in Mbiko, uncovering a stash of rice and kitenge fabrics. The haul included; 22bags of Bahraf rice,
23bags of Sana Parboiled rice and 4 bales  of single face kitenge fabric.
The Jinja team’s swift action dealt a significant blow to smuggling operations in the region. Their dedication to justice and diligence in tracking down illicit goods sent a strong message to all habitual smugglers to desist from the vice.
