In a recent operation on the different small towns in Busia around Nkuruma, Golden star hotel and sofia, URA enforcement team harvested a number of smuggled items.
Some of these included;64 cartons of engine oil (Total H-Perf 2T500),21 cartons of Shell advance,26 bags of assorted basmati rice, 39 bags of sana long grain rice, 30,000 pairs of new polycotton socks, 245 rolls of rayon material, 7190 square meters of curtain material, 4 tonnes of assorted loose worn garments and 1300 pieces of assorted garments.
Throughout the festive season, URA will continue employing intelligence guided operations and field intelligence enforcement operations to nab all smugglers. The public is therefore warned on engagement in such acts that not only affect our economy but also discourage a level trading ground for all legitimate traders.
