Following the unveiling of the URA web portal, URA has embarked on training stakeholders to enable them easily navigate the system.
The change management commenced a 3-day training for tax agents on the enhanced processes in domestic taxes yesterday.
The agents are being trained on the web-based return filing forms for rental income and VAT, updating taxpayer profiles with National Identification Number(NIN) and Business Registration Number(BRN), the ledger system, stamp duty enhancements for land transfer instruments, and the automated deemed VAT process.
During the session on the web-based return filing forms, Charles Mua, the Ag. Assistant Commissioner of Business Policy, said that these have been improved with a pre-filled form.
“Previously, the submission of returns required a lot of work, but it has now been simplified to a pre-filled return where the transactions through EFRIS will be captured, and we only need to add what’s missing,” he explained.
According to Opio Charles Vincent, a Supervisor in the domestic taxes department, the changes to the new return filing web forms will take effect this November.
Opio noted that tax agents have been engaged first because they can easily disseminate the information and also help in filing returns for other companies.
