Local government vehicle seized in Namayingo for engaging in illicit trade

The URA team in Namayingo recently received information from an intel group regarding a Local Government motor vehicle, registration number LG0019-18, that had consistently been ferrying smuggled goods from Kenya to Uganda.

It was reported that the vehicle frequently navigates through feeder roads to evade detection.

In order to address this frustration, URA officers were heavily deployed at the different routes and indeed the efforts paid off.

A vehicle, visibly overloaded was intercepted during the operation and was seized at Namayingo Station and 55 bags of 25 kilograms each of Sana Parboiled rice were discovered.
