Following a tip-off from an informer of anotorious smuggler who was loading some items on a wooden boat. The Sigulu team immediately deployed and at around 10:00pm last week on Wednesday, another call came in explaining that the boat was on move to its final destination in Lugala, Namayingo distict.
“We immediately rushed, and at half passed mid night we heard the sound of the Engine landing at Businoho beach. We hurried and rescued a wooden boat loaded with uncustomed goods,” Maj. Denis Ben Oyo explained of the team ‘s vigilance.
The boat and the goods have since been impounded and are currently being held for further investigations.
During interception, the following goods were recovered;
- 41 bags of 50kgs of Simba cement
- 18 cartons of 24kgs of Ndovu wheat flour
- 16 boxes of10bars, Kibuyu washing soap
- 7 jerry cans of 20litres of cooking oil
- jerry cans x10ltrs of cooking oil
- 10 cartons of holla energy drink
- A bag of rice
- A box of 12 litres of shell engine lubricant oil
