The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) urged women entrepreneurs in Nebbi district to formalize their businesses and keep proper records for accurate tax assessment.
Mercy Okori, a tax education officer, made this call during a meeting at GAF Apartments & Entertainment Centre. She explained that organized records offer a clear view of business activities, helping tax officials calculate obligations correctly. Okori further dispelled the myth that taxes cause business collapse, stressing that poor record-keeping and tax planning are the main issues.
The URA Nebbi station head Hawards Anguandia briefed participants on withholding tax. Participants were encouraged to share tax knowledge and engage actively with URA.
Clare Sanyu, the Supervisor Stakeholder Mobilization project in charge of Northern region told the women, “You are now our ambassadors. These sessions empower you financially, mentally, and socially.”
This initiative is part of URA’s broader effort to promote a tax-literate business community and help taxpayers understand their obligations.
