Njawuzi Peter is a stout, calm, collected gentleman with a soft smile and a touch of witty ambience about him. He is a businessman who is a model manufacturer and taxpayer in Masaka district.

Multiline international limited is a beverage production company that produces a local drink known as kashera under the brand name Bessa Millet Malt drink in 500mls and 300mls depending on the demand on the market.

Njawuzi built his experience and business acumen 10 years ago when he decided to withdraw from civil employment to join the business world starting with a small retail shop which opened his eyes to the demand and supply chain in drinks.

“I noticed that the drinks and beverages were moving faster than other goods in the shop, so I decided to phase out some goods and replaced them with more drinks hence the idea to start producing my own beverage,” shared Njawuzi.

Multiline International Limited pays taxes including value-added Tax, Local Excise Duty, income tax, and PAYE, and employs 12 permanent staff. It also has a cordial relationship with URA where the Masaka regional office provides technical support and advice regarding tax-related issues.

“The company has been compliant and consistent with its taxes every month and they never miss a deadline for the past 5 years,” said Bridget Nambejje, Station Head Masaka.

Njawuzi revealed that it is possible to grow your business while simultaneously paying taxes as long as one knows which taxes relate to their business and need to be paid.

“Find out which taxes you are obligated to pay when starting a business to avoid surprises in future,” Njawuzi advised those intending to join the business community.
