URA’s Tax Education team was fully engaged at the 30th Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) International Trade Fair. They discussed tax awareness and compliance with the public and students, making taxation more accessible.
The annual event at UMA Showgrounds, Lugogo, provided a dynamic platform for participants to learn about taxes’ role in national development. Students benefited from simplified explanations on taxes funding infrastructure, public services, and national growth.
In their stall, the Tax education team used practical demonstrations and digital simulations to illustrate tax filing and processing. Business owners received tailored advice on tax registration, compliance, and obligation management, emphasizing the Tax Identification Number (TIN)’s importance.
Led by Tax Expert Hafsah Seguya, the URA team stressed fostering a tax-compliant generation. On community radios, the Ag. Manager Tax Education Outreach Masembe Michael stated, “We aimed to ensure everyone understands taxes’ significance.”
“Our goal was to create awareness about paying taxes’ benefits and encourage voluntary compliance, essential for national development,” Masembe added.
