The Commissioner General of URA, John R. Musinguzi has launched a taxpayer service center in Kikuubo to bring services closer to taxpayers. The center aims to ease compliance for traders who previously had to travel to Nakawa and Boulevard for tax services.
During the launch, Musinguzi said that the initiative was designed to bridge the gap between clients and the taxman.
“Our mission at this at office is to ensure that you discuss your tax challenges directly with our knowledgeable staff, who are always ready to provide guidance,” he said.
Meanwhile, this comes after the recent upheaval regarding the EFRIS adoption in Kikuubo that brought to light a substantial knowledge gap among the traders.
There are plans underway to launch four similar offices in other locations of; Gulu, Mbale, Masaka, and Mbarara to support taxpayers and ease congestion.
Hajjat Nambarilwa Mariam from Mukwano Arcade, expressed her excitement about bringing services closer to the community, she also shared that previously one had to go to Nakawa for assistance with tax-related matters, particularly on filing returns which was time-consuming.
