A section of traders from downtown Kampala have expressed interest in partnering with URA to conduct tax education. This call was made at URA in Nakawa during an engagement with Shauriyako traders.
Dr. Hillary Musoke, one of the leaders from Shauriyako Arcade said they could encourage compliance by educating their peers about the Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution (EFRIS).
The idea was applauded by Ibrahim Bbossa, the Assistant Commissioner of Public and Corporate Affairs who advised the traders to organize in their associations and to always contact URA for any taxation-related issues.
This was echoed by Sarah M. Chelangat, the Commissioner of Domestic Taxes, who advised them to always enlist the help of tax professionals in handling complex procedures.
“As businesses grow, it’s important to seek assistance from someone who understands tax laws to prepare the books of accounts and file returns accurately,” she said.
Chelangat stressed the importance of proper record-keeping, highlighting the benefits of EFRIS, especially for VAT-registered taxpayers.
