Last week, a delegation from the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) visited URA to learn from the latter’s automated customs processes.
The benchmark visit was aimed at helping the ZRA to automate their goods detention and disposal processes, right from detention and forfeiture to gazetting and final disposal.
In light of this, the team was trained in various areas including automation of the goods detention process, mapping of goods under normal customs procedures, the ASYCUDAWorld enhanced valuation database, the motor vehicle clearance process and passenger clearance at Entebbe Airport among others.
Representing the Assistant Commissioner of Learning and Development, Agnes Akello Drasi, the Supervisor of L&D, welcomed the Zambians and promised them a productive tour of duty while underlining URA’s experience in hosting other tax authorities.
Christopher Kabamba, the head of the Zambian delegation, thanked URA for the hospitality and promised to apply the acquired knowledge to enhance ZRA’s customs procedures.
