The Uganda Revenue Authority emergedwinner in the football tournament in this year’s corporate league games. The tax collectors scored a total of 82 points against Centenary Bank which came second with 78 points.
The ceremony that attracted 40 companies in attendance was held at Hotel Africana yesterday. These competed against one another in games like; football, swimming, volleyball, basketball and pool table.
Of these, URA was crowned the football champions, the first runner-up in volleyball and the first runner-up in the overall competition. In addition, URA ’s Ignatius Majwega won the title of overall player of the year with 24 goals throughout the competition. His victory was attributed to self-control and unique contribution to the squad.
Michael Masembe, the Ag. Manager for Tax Education emphasized the significance of sports in the nation’s transformation during the award ceremony. According to Masembe Sports provides an enjoyable environment for URA tax education and stakeholders engagement.
“We had Tujenge Bus with us throughout the League, which enabled more interactions with you the taxpayers,” Masembe said.
Ambrose Tashobya, the Chairperson of the National Council of Sports, acknowledged that the corporate league had improved workplace efficiency by bringing staff of different ranks together.
