Intelligence reports aid Malaba Enforcement in pinning 120 bags of rice

Verve is the currency best deployed by masterful strategists to maintain dynasty spells of peak performance. Most strategists will recruit new stars periodically to achieve that spark whenever they notice a lull. The ‘tiki-taka’ protagonist-in-chief – Pep Guardiola has perhaps applied this philosophy best and the veteran James Milner was on the wrong end of a serving last weekend when Pep unleashed his new wing wizard – Doku against him. It was a cameo to forget for the Brighton man.

Back home in Malaba, a smuggler had an equally torrid time at the expense of the Malaba enforcement team which has deployed a new set of informers. With magma running through his veins, one of the new CIs shared hot intel about a case of rebagging by the minute.

Rebagging is the smuggling mechanism where a person smuggles a foreign product say sugar or rice into Uganda and changes its packaging from a foreign brand into a Ugandan brand for the sole purpose of achieving seamless undetected travel towards the final destination.

Armed with the information about the ‘rebagger,’ the Malaba enforcement team stealthily moved in to intercept the truck Reg No. UBN 495N with ease. The contraband and the motor vehicle that aided the crime were delivered to the Malaba OSBP for safe custody. Offence management ensued immediately.

Verification revealed 120 bags of long-grain parboiled white rice from Kenya.

We reiterate our plea for Ugandans especially motor vehicle owners to desist from smuggling. This ‘kapyaata’ of the UBN series risks forfeiture to the state.
