Last week on Thursday 10th August 2023 at 5:00am, it was business un usual in bugango as the customs team in the region seized smuggled cosmetics from notorious smugglers.
“We have been playing the chess game of smuggling speculation, carefully collecting puzzle pieces of intel for over a week until we pounced into action,” an Abdullatif Musau said.
Since most of the goods impounded were cosmetics, they are contrabands. They cannot be released but rather destroyed at the cost of the offender. URA strives to increase fairness in all its processes thereby liberating Ugandans from economic saboteurs engaging in illicit Trade. The general public is encouraged to report to URA all suspicious trade practices in their areas to enable URA create a level trading ground for all legitimate Traders.
Meanwhile, upon verification, the following items were discovered;
- 05 cartons of Body Luxe
- 60 cartons of Afrocare, perfumed petroleum jelly(50g)
- 20 cartons of AfroCare, perfumed petroleum jelly(200g)
- 30 cartons of AfroCare, perfumed petroleum jelly(100g)
- 30 cartons of BodyLuxe, petroleum jelly (50g)
- 20 cartons of Body luxe petroleum jelly(100g)
- 20 cartons of family care, pure perfumed petroleum jelly (50g)
- 10 cartons of Family Care, pure perfumed petroleum jelly (200g)
- 04 cartons of Skala, Perfumed petroleum jelly. (200g)
- 01 carton of Skala, Perfumed petroleum jelly (200g)
- 30 cartons of Ivori, Butter Milk sweets
- 10 cartons of Big G, Bubble gum (30 bags)
- 05 cartons of Good Doctor Tooth brushes
