William Wambedde [not real names] had continuously been stocking smuggled wheat flour in his shop in Muyembe town without being caught.
Last Friday, he could not continue with the same habit. Wambedde was trailed all the way from Bukwo and at around 4:00am, he was caught at his home in Muyembe, Mbale district.
In order to avoid a scuffle, the team was tactful and waited for one of his distributors to offload the cargo.
“Our patience paid off as we just walked in and loaded our cargo with no hustle,” Luke Kivumbi one of the enforcement officers on duty narrated.
Although the distributor disappeared with the car keys, the URA team was able to recover the 150 cartons of wheat flour.
These are currently in the URA stores pending further offence management.
URA continues to assure smugglers of their readiness to penalize them for all their illicit trading.
