Recently, URA participated in a charity fundraising dinner organised at Protea hotel in Naguru by Grace Villa. The engagement was aimed at raising funds to support more orphans with basic needs such as; food, shelter, medication and education among others.
According to Ruth Ndyabahika, the CEO of Grace villa, about 200 orphaned girls are currently sponsored under the NGO. These have been empowered with skills to generate money like; art and craft, bakery and making re -usable sanitary towels.
Grace villa is a non-governmental organisation that supports young orphaned children whose relatives are not in position to take up the responsibility of raising them. Since 2013, the orphanage has provided different forms of support such as homes, education, medication, counselling and skilling the children under their care.
Ndyabahika noted that while they started out as a family that responds to only urgent needs, they have grown into one of the profound organisations with the strongest girl child interventions in Kigezi sub region, South West of Uganda.
Meanwhile, URA uses the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities to effect social change in the communities in which they operate. For the last 30 years, URA’s philanthropic contributions have left an indelible mark and created an enjoyable working relationship with its stakeholders. These activities have ranged from environmental protection, providing scholarly materials, providing hospital equipment, cleaning markets and donating blood.
