URA COMMISSIONER GENERAL RECOGNISED FOR EXCELLENT LEADERSHIP.

John Rujoki Musinguzi, the Commissioner General (CG) of Uganda Revenue Authority has been recognised as Africa’s Patriotic Personality of the Year by the League of African Development Students (LEADS), a union body for African students.

Musinguzi was particularly singled out this year for exhibiting commendable strategic leadership geared at uplifting the Ugandan economy and ultimately the livelihoods of Ugandans. He was also appreciated for his unreserved commitment towards realising an economically independent Uganda which has portrayed his desire for the country to rid itself of foreign dependency.

While presenting the award, Osisiogu Osikenyi, the LEADS Secretary General said that the ideas Musinguzi has for Uganda are timely and desired for Africa especially if the continent is to develop.

“We as African students have seen his resilience and passion on economic liberation, fiscal excellence to achieve results for Uganda’s development. As young leaders, we appreciate his patriotic leadership for Uganda and we pray the same for Africa,” said Osikenyi.

Innovation, digitisation and scientific appreciation of tax administration were also attributed to Musinguzi. Osikenyi added that this direction in very applicable and inspiring to African youth to ably move with the global trends.

Robert Mutebi, the Ag. CG who received the award on behalf of Musinguzi thanked LEADS for recognising the efforts of his boss and said it is a motivation for the institution to do better.

“It is of great importance if our leadership is adding value to our young people. Our CG indeed works hard and it is humbling that you recognise him today,” appreciated Mutebi.

Mutebi also noted that Uganda has a young population and URA is collecting revenue for government to efficiently plan better for the youth in areas such as education.

The previous recipients of the award include Yankuba Darboe, the CG of The Gambia Revenue Authority, Chief Edwin Devakumar, the former Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Cement Plc, Dr. James Mwangi, the Chief Executive Officer of Equity Group Holdings Plc among others
