The URA Tujenge bus campaign has made a stop in Mbale as part of its ongoing outreach in the Eastern region that started on 27th and ends today on 31st January 2025. The campaign is aimed at educating residents on the importance of tax compliance began in Pallisa on Monday with efforts to raise awareness.

Mbale Station Head, Senkikadiwa M. Reuben, shared his optimism about the campaign’s potential.

“The last time the Tujenge bus visited, it left Mbale and the surrounding areas significantly transformed. I am confident that this time, we will see a rise in presumptive taxes, better rental tax registration, and enhanced tax education,” he stated.

In collaboration with the Mbale District Taxation (DT) team, the campaign is utilizing a door-to-door approach to ensure widespread community participation and effective awareness-building.

This direct engagement allows the team to connect with residents, fostering a deeper understanding of tax obligations and the tangible benefits of compliance.

Patricia Erios Nakyiza, the Tujenge team lead, highlighted the importance of the door-to-door strategy.

“Our outreach is specifically designed to reach every household, particularly those with limited access to information. We are committed to ensuring that no one is left behind in this vital conversation,” she said.

“Our goal is to ensure that every resident understands the value of tax compliance and how it directly impacts their daily lives,” she added.

The team also assisted potential businesses with Tax Identification Number (TIN) registration at the mobile office.

The Tujenge bus campaign began its Eastern region outreach in Jinja and Tororo over the past two weeks and is now set to expand its reach to the areas of; Bududa, Manafwa, and Budadiri.
