URA launches door-to-door tax education in Jinja

By Apollo Arikod

The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has launched a week-long door-to-door tax education exercise in Jinja City aiming at equipping residents with knowledge on taxation. This initiative will cover suburbs like Bugembe, Mafubira, Kakira, and Kafunta, among others.

Throughout the week, URA’s tax outreach team will conduct sensitizations on key areas, including TIN registration, assessments, taxpayer rights, and other essential tax-related topics. In order to support this effort, URA’s mobile tax office, the Tujenge bus, is on site to offer similar services to taxpayers.

Mark Oluka, the Acting Station Head of Jinja, expressed optimism about the exercise, hoping to surpass their monthly presumptive tax target by its conclusion.

Patricia Nakayiza, the team lead, emphasized the importance of approaching taxpayers courteously and ensuring that all non-compliant taxpayers are educated on their obligations.

The team is currently camped in Bugembe town, a bustling business hub in the heart of Jinja City. This initiative demonstrates URA’s commitment to promoting tax awareness and compliance, ultimately contributing to Uganda’s economic development.
