The Ugandan Community living in the Netherlands has invited Uganda Revenue Authority to participate and support them in an upcoming business activity convention in August this year.
The two delegates made the call while meeting the Ag. Assistant Commissioner, Public and Corporate Affairs Edrine Mutebi.
“I believe it is our responsibility to organize the community and create a platform that connects Uganda and the Netherlands,” said Dr. Joachim Kikomeko from Amsterdam.
He noted that many people are interested in investing in Uganda, but are often scared and skeptical because of taxes and lack of information.
“Having a platform where URA can engage with the community will change people’s mindset because they will be better informed,” he emphasized.
Dr. Kikomeko requested URA to engage the community in order to educate them and bridge the information gap so that everyone can contribute their fair share of tax. He also asked URA to share literature on tax incentives to enlighten the community thereby expunging the fear of taxes and address the challenges faced by the Ugandan community.
Ag. AC PCA Mutebi reassured the team that URA has designed different mechanisms to support Ugandans with investments in and outside the country.
“We are willing to engage the community during the August convention in which we will educate and provide tax information,” he stated.
The team has successfully held conventions for the Ugandan community in the Scandinavian region for the past seven years.
