URA to participate in the parliamentary Business Youth Forum

URA is set to participate in the annual youth business forum 2023, an initiative of the Parliament of Uganda.

This year’s forum is set to happen on October 13 at Kololo Independence grounds under the theme, “Improved youth livelihood for better entrepreneurship.”

In light of her mandate, URA will be providing tax education and tax-related services at the event.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Parliament of Uganda, Nyamutoro Phiona, the national youth representative in parliament, said the forum is focused on transforming the mindset of youths to embrace entrepreneurship as a form of employment.

Hon. Evelyn Anite, State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization, urged young people to embrace SME’s, noting that history has been tested on the growth of small and medium enterprises into big businesses that transform society.

As URA gears towards collecting Ugx 30 trillion, tax education has been earmarked as one of the strategies to attain voluntary tax compliance.

Michael Masembe, the Ag. Manager of Tax Education, asserts that educating young people on tax is the best way to ensure a tax-literate populace in the future and instill a tax-paying culture from a young age.
